Everything happens locally in your browser. Your files are private. Your login info is never shared.
  1. Open Instagram → Settings → Accounts Center (or accountscenter.instagram.com) → Your information and permissions
  2. Select Export your information → Create Export → Export to Device
  3. Select Customize information → Deselect everything except Followers and following (under "Connections") → Click the in-page back arrow
  4. Select Date range → All Time → Click the in-page back arrow
  5. Select Format → select JSON (Note: This app only works with the JSON format)
  6. Select Start Export. It often takes a few minutes to complete. Download it when ready
  7. It will download as a .zip file. Double click to extract, then navigate to the followers_1.json file. Upload this file to the checker. You'll need two files to compare, so keep an older file to use later.

Don't just take my word for it — you can check yourself in 10 seconds:

  • Open your browser's dev tools (F12, or right-click → Inspect) and switch to the Network tab. Upload both files and run the comparison. You'll see 0 requests. This page never talks to a server once it's loaded.
  • Your files are read with the browser's built-in FileReader API and compared using plain JavaScript, entirely on your device.
  • You can also view the exact code running: Ctrl/Cmd+U to view page source. It's plain, unminified HTML/JavaScript. Nothing is hidden.
